Jackson has acted in more than 100 films over the course of his career.

Samuel L. Jackson will be honored with the 2018 Cinema Icon Award at CinemaCon, the annual gathering of theater owners and Hollywood studios next month in Las Vegas.

CinemaCon runs April 23-26 at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, culminating with the Big Screen Achievement Awards. The National Association of Theatre Owners hosts the show.

"With more than 100 films to his credit and over three decades of bringing some of the most memorable characters to the big screen, Samuel L. Jackson has made an undeniable mark on global movie-going audiences,” CinemaCon managing director Mitch Neuhauser said in a statement.

“With characters ranging from Jules Winnfield in Pulp Fiction and Carl Lee Hailey in A Time to Kill to Nick Fury in the Iron Man, Avengers and Captain America films, Jackson has given us every reason to go to the movies,” Neuhauser continued.

Jackson will next be seen in Disney and Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War, reprising his role as Nick Fury (the superhero mashup begins rolling out in North American theaters on April 26, the same night that he'll receive the CinemaCon honor). And he'll reprise his role as Frozone in Disney/Pixar’s sequel The Incredibles 2, which opens June 15.

Early next year, Jackson will return as Mr. Glass in M. Night Shyamalan’s superhero thriller film Glass. The film brings together the narratives of Touchstone’s Unbreakable and Universal’s Split, and will be released by Universal on Jan. 18, 2019.

Jackson recently finished production on New Line’s Son of Shaft and is currently in production on Marvel’s Captain Marvel.
