Lionsgate has picked up Behind, a horror film package that sees Sam Raimi producing a big-screen adaptation of a spooky short.

Behind is based on the short of the same name by Angel Gomez. Gomez is attached to direct the feature, with Zak Olkewicz on board to write the script.

Raimi will produce with his Ghost House Pictures banner alongside Robert Tapert. Also producing is Scott Glassgold and his management-production shingle Ground Control.

The short, which racked up numerous awards at various film festivals, centers on a woman going through a divorce who comes to fear that she will lose her baby daughter. When a mysterious lady at a party tells her that she is being followed, what seems at first like a delusion turns into a terrifying nightmare as the woman does everything she can to save her little one from evil.

The deal was made in a competitive situation, according to sources.

Romel Adam, who heads Ghost House Pictures, will be overseeing for Ghosthouse.

Raimi and Ghost House have a long-standing partnership with Lionsgate’s motion picture president Nathan Kahane, spanning movies from The Grudge to the more recent Don’t Breathe.

Glassgold’s Ground Control is readying the upcoming exorcism thriller Incident at Fort Bragg at Lionsgate, which is also being produced by Beau Flynn.

Olkewicz has been working steadily in the horror field for the last few years, acting as a co-producer on the New Line horror hit Lights Out and writing Fear Street 2, based on the R.L. Stine books, for Fox. He is currently penning the adaptation of the sci-fi trilogy Time Salvager for Paramount, with Lorenzo Di Bonaventura producing.
