The insider information about upcoming Sony movie plans and ideas keeps on rolling out from the massive hack that saw emails, financial information and more leak online from the studio’s leadership. Holders of documents from the invasion of privacy have released a steady stream of tidbits about some of the biggest upcoming projects some Sony and producers they’ve chatted with as they comb through the data.

From tentative Ghostbusters 3 and Sinister Six plans and the future of Men in Black and 21 Jump Street franchises to questionable statements about Hollywood stars from Sony Pictures co-chairman Amy Pascal and producers, we have another snippet of information about a certain high profile actor that falls on the positive side of talking behind someone’s back.

Ryan Gosling, who has been namedropped as a rumored contender for countless geek-friendly film projects including Green Lantern, Justice League, Suicide Squad and more, is a favorite of Pascal according to email exchanges between her and Gosling’s manager Ilene Feldman uncovered by The Daily Beast.

“Ryan absolutely loved you. Said it was like speed dating because he was late after hitting every wrong gate on the lot. Not it should turn to marriage. He really wants to do something with you.”

The above is from Feldman telling (selling?) Pascal how much Ryan Gosling apparently wants to work with Pascal and Sony. Pascal forwarded the message to Columbia Pictures co-president of production Michael De Luca who responded that the project Gosling wants is Ghostbusters 3 according to his own conversation with Feldman.

These messages are from the very beginning of October which seem to indicate plans for the return of the franchise are very much in flux but that there are hopes to quickly turn it into a big franchise. Other emails uncovered yesterday point towards major interest from Channing Tatum wanting to do a spinoff Ghostbusters with Chris Pratt as well. The following from October 3rd indicates there’s only one lead male role in the Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters reboot which could be the launching point for sequels and spinoffs like the one above for Tatum.

“There is one [male] part paul is planning. How insane would that be… He also wants jennifer [Lawrence] and Emma [Stone].”

The Russo brothers (who also want to produce the new Spider-Man movies for Sony and Marvel) may produce any such Tatum-Pratt Ghostbusters spinoff. Amy Pascal also spoke with Feldman around the time about her own interest in working with Gosling on something else, naming Sinister Six and the Steve Jobs biopic. Clearly, things went a little downhill for Sinister Six later as we discussed at length last week from all of the leaked emails from November which made it clear Pascal was a little lost when it came to the future of the Spider-Man franchise and whether or not she should work with Marvel Studios so they can use the character going forward in some sort of multi-studio deal.

At the moment, it seems everyone (except some high-ups at Sony) wants to see Spider-Man go to Marvel while we’re still unclear of the plans for Ghostbusters. All signs still point towards it (the first one, anyway) being a female-driven relaunch (“hard reboot” according to Paul Feig) of the series with big name talent Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence and Rebel Wilson all being listed as potential stars.
