New reports confirm that Tommy Wiseau, creator of The Room, is developing a new feature film called Big Shark. The Room was released in 2003, and quickly went on to infamy as one of the worst films ever made. In the years since, it's developed a massive cult following who celebrate its nonsensical plot, laughably bad acting, and bizarre cinematography. Many cinemas have regularly scheduled screenings of the movie, in which fans throw plastic spoons at the screen (similar to when toast is sometimes thrown during a Rocky Horror Picture Show viewing), each time the camera reveals framed photos of the cutlery in the main characters' apartment.

The Room follows the misfortune of Tommy (Wiseau), who doesn't realize that his fiance Lisa (Juliette Danielle) is cheating on him with his best friend Mark (Greg Sestero). Following a string of incongruent plot lines involving the couple's troubled neighbor Denny, and Lisa's ailing mother Claudette, Tommy finally commits suicide after finding out about the affair. In reality, Wiseau ended up becoming real-life friends with Sestero, which the 2017 true story drama about the film, The Disaster Artist, delved into. Wiseau has since remained in the public eye, and discussed potential sequels or following projects to The Room. The most recent one, however, appears to be different story altogether.

This past weekend, Wiseau and Sestero reportedly attended a screening of The Room at the Prince Charles Cinema in London. Prior the to duo's Q&A, a surprise teaser trailer for Wiseau's upcoming film, Big Shark, was revealed. Filmfutter.com provided a description and a glance at the trailer footage:

"The teaser starts off with Patrick, played by Tommy Wiseau, who introduces his friends Tim (Isaiah LaBorde) and Georgie (Greg Sestero) to two women at a restaurant. In the next scene one of the women calls Sestero's character a jerk and both slap him. His buddies laugh at him and he laughs it off. In the following scene they are walking back to their car when they see water at their feet running through the streets. After a cut they are already up to their hips in the water and in the background a large badly animated shark consumes its victim. After that the shark goes for the trio and they try to run away. The title card comes on, after which the shot of the CG shark swimming towards the camera and snapping is repeated multiple times."

As reported by Filmfutter, Wiseau explained the film is set in New Orleans and inspired by his time in the city. Although the full plot is still under wraps, Sestero stated that the movie is about three firefighters trying to save the world (presumably from a shark). There was no indication that the film has made it to post-production, and may shoot this summer with the London release date possibly intended for this September. This was also reportedly the first time the teaser had been revealed.

Strangely enough, the premise of Big Shark sounds like it already makes sense to an extent. Positioning the main characters as rescue professionals situates them to deal with an implicit disaster, and a hurricane or tropical storms could be the delivery system for some kind of supernatural shark, as was the case in another so-bad-it's-great movie, Sharknado. Wiseau also isn't shy about inserting himself into other pop culture staples, as per his Dark Knight Joker video. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen how much of the movie may revolve around paying homage to shark attack classic like Jaws, and how much will just be Wiseau doing what he does best: his own thing.
