Roman Reigns will be returning to WWE Raw this Monday to offer an update on his health. This will be Reigns' first appearance since he shocked fans with the announcement that he was battling leukemia last October. After spending months chasing the Universal Championship, Reigns would capture the title from Brock Lesnar at Summer Slam only to relinquish it a few months later in order to focus on treating the sickness.

Not much has been announced regarding the status of Reigns' health since his last on-screen appearance, but those closest to him have stated he was doing well, and he is set to star in the upcoming Fast and the Furious spinoff Hobbs & Shaw. In late 2012, Reigns made his main roster debut alongside Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. The trio would be called The Shield, a heel faction whose priority was seeking out justice. After the group separated in 2014, Reigns would go on to become the chosen one and would receive several main event opportunities. Many fans expressed their disinterest with his booking, but management remained stubborn and continued to force him upon the audience. After being showered with disapproval for years, fans expressed their support for Reigns when he broke character to address his battle with leukemia, and with Vince McMahon announcing his return, it will be exciting to hear the reception he receives this Monday.

WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon announced on his Twitter that Reigns would be returning on Raw to address his leukemia battle. In his absence,
WWE has been scrambling to book weekly television without its top star factoring into major storylines, as he was heavily involved in several angles. In the past, Reigns has noted that the continuous support he has received has him looking forward to returning to in-ring action. Check out McMahon's tweet below:

Despite fan disapproval of his on-screen character (the reaction to the self-proclaimed "Big Dog" has been polarizing, similar to WWE's other top star and Bumblebee actor John Cena), there is no denying that Reigns' announcement caught everyone by surprise. Prior to his leave of absence, he was scheduled to defend the Universal Championship at the controversial Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia against Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman, but the two would instead face one-on-one with the title up for grabs.

While the return of Reigns could mean that he will be back in the ring imminently, it is important to remember that the appearance could be a one and done just to show that he is doing well. That said, it's still possible that Reigns may be able to become active again just in time for WrestleMania season; though, regardless of what the case may be, it will be a heartwarming sight to see the "Big Dog" back in a WWE ring.
