Jughead's mom and sister are coming to Riverdale in season 3. The CW's immensely popular teen drama, which is based on the world-famous characters from Archie Comics, has been making waves online for good and bad reasons since its initial debut in early 2017, but people keep coming back to the series because of its core characters: Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), Betty Cooper (Lilli Reinhart), Veronica Lodge (Camilla Mendes), and Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse).

While the crux of the series revolves around Archie, the writers and producers have devoted a fair share of screen time to each main character, including Jughead, whose storyline has mainly involved the street gang known as the Southside Serpents. In the first two seasons, his father, F.P. Jones (Skeet Ulrich), was the leader of the Serpents - but he retired in the season 2 finale, thus leaving his son in charge of shepherding the gang in season 3 and beyond. And it seems that becoming the leader may involve him coming into contact with his mother and sister at some point.

It was announced during Riverdale's panel at New York Comic Con 2018 that The CW has cast Gina Gershon as Jughead's mom, Gladys Jones, who is described as being "a 'businesswoman' who runs the salvage yard (chop shop) that doubles as a Serpent compound, and the Serpents all snap to attention when she gives them an order." Furthermore, Trinity Likins has been cast as Jughead's sister, Jellybean "JB" Jones, who is "wise beyond her years" and "quite the little con artist herself."

Although the network refrained from revealing specific details regarding Gladys and Jellybean's involvement in Riverdale season 3, they did say that Jughead's family will be introduced in the December 12 episode - which is presumably the show's midseason finale. Given how midseason finales tend to be laid out, it's possible audiences will only get to see a brief glimpse at Gladys and Jellybean before they return in the second half of season 3, which is where the bulk of their recurring roles will take place.

Of course, in addition to getting more of Riverdale, Archie Comics fans also have the first season of Netflix's Chilling Adventures of Sabrina to look forward to this month. While the two shows exist apart from each other, Sabrina's showrunner recently said at New York Comic Con that he eventually wants to see a crossover between Sabrina and Riverdale. Whether that happens or not remains to be seen, but it's clear that the Riverdale producers had Sabrina on their minds when she was originally supposed to be season 2's big bad antagonist.
