Everything We Know About Resident Evil: Death Island

A direct sequel to 2017's Resident Evil: Vendetta, Resident Evil: Death Island follows the Division of Security Operations agent Leon S. Kennedy, who attempts to rescue a kidnapped doctor when his mission is waylaid by a mysterious woman. At the same time, the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance agent Chris Redfield investigates an inexplicable outbreak of infections on the West Coast, which appear to have originated on Alcatraz Island. Putting the pieces together, Chris and his team set sail to the island of despair to further investigate the threat.

Resident Evil: Death Island is directed by Assassination Classroom's Eiichiro Hasumi with a screenplay by Psycho-Pass' Makoto Fukami. The CG animated film series is not only based on the hit survival-horror game but set in the same universe as the Resident Evil video games. The fourth installment is anticipated to finally put Leon, Chris, and Jill together in the same movie, while also marking the first time Leon and Jill interact with one another.

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is distributing Resident Evil: Death Island worldwide (excluding Japan). This has inspired hope that the animated movie will receive a wide theatrical release, especially in the United States. Only time will tell as Resident Evil: Death Island's release date has yet to be announced, though it is expected to arrive this summer.
