Report: X-Men: Days of Future Past Filmed & Released in 48FPS
(UPDATE: Sources close to the film tell IGN that shooting in 48fps was explored, but the filmmakers ultimately ruled against it. The original report follows.)
It's claimed that Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days of Future Past was filmed and will be released in 48 frames per second.
This technology, known as high-frame rate (HFR), was recently used by Peter Jackson for The Hobbit trilogy, and proved divisive. Traditionally the film rate used by most cameras has been locked at 24fps. Some believe the higher frame rate sacrifices the 'cinematic feel' texture that is strongly associated with 24fps.
The news comes via Ain't It Cool, which states two unnamed sources have confirmed the story. According to the second source, the filmmakers held off making the announcement in light of the negative reception the technology received following the release of The Hobbit. But since Singer and co. love the results, the production will be standing by the new technology.
Still not convinced by 48fps? Which version will you go see when the film releases next year? Let us know in the comments below.
