A new documentary is coming out about the late, great Robin Williams titled Robin's Wish, with the newly released trailer examining his final days. Williams was one of the greatest actors of his generation. He made a name for himself with the television comedy Mork & Mindy and would star in such movies as Good Morning, Vietnam, Dead Poets Society, and Aladdin, where he famously voiced the Genie. Some of his other iconic films include Mrs. Doubtfire and Good Will Hunting, which won him an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. Later in his career, Williams dipped into darker work like One Hour Photo and Christopher Nolan's Insomnia, truly proving he could do anything.

Considering the breadth of his career, as well as how beloved Williams was by the public, his death came as a shock. On August 11, 2014, he took his own life at the age of 63. When a celebrity passes away, there is always a period of speculation over what led to the tragic event. When it was reported Williams died by suicide, it added an entirely new level of befuddlement. How could one of the most entertaining people, who brought joy and happiness to everyone around him, have been so tormented?

Robin's Wish seeks to examine that, with the trailer suggesting a close portrait of the actor and what may have caused him to end his life. Tylor Norwood directed the film, which releases on demand and digital September 1. Vertical Entertainment debuted the first look at Robin's Wish. Check it out below:

The trailer for Robin's Wish puts the truth behind Williams' tragic death front-and-center. One of the immediate assumptions was he was running out of money and the stress of taking projects he didn't want to do weighed on him. Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb director Shawn Levy is shown in the trailer, suggesting Williams felt like a different person during filming. Williams' widow, Susan Schneider Williams, said it wasn't until she was called in to go over the coroner's report that it all started to become clear: Williams was suffering from Lewy body dementia.

The new trailer emphasizes Williams was suffering in the final days of his life. It's heartbreaking to think that someone who was revered for his craft and ability to make people laugh was deteriorating and rapidly losing his sense of self. However, despite this, the trailer focuses on happy moments as well. The movie clearly aims to show the versatility of Williams, who was synonymous with comedy, but excelled in various genres. There is truly no easy way to categorize Williams as a performer, making his death that much more of a loss. Robin's Wish is not likely to be an easy watch but an important one.
