‘The Punisher’ star responds after Eminem reacts angrily to Netflix show cancellation

Slim Shady isn't happy with the decision to cancel 'The Punisher'

The Punisher‘s Jon Bernthal has responded after Eminem made his feelings known about Netflix’s decision to cancel the show.

It was officially confirmed on Monday (February 18) that the Marvel superhero show won’t be returning to the streaming site, ahead of Disney launching their own competitor later this year.

The move has also seen the cancellation of Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Daredevil, and Luke Cage.

Eminem joined the legions of fans expressing their anger and frustration at the decision, tweeting: “DEAR @netflix, REGARDING YOUR CANCELLATION OF THE PUNISHER, YOU ARE BLOWING IT!! SINCERELY, MARSHALL.”

Now, Bernthal, who plays vigilante Frank Castle in the programme, has responded. “Dear Em. Honored you watch brother,” he wrote. “You are the King.”

The actor also shared a statement thanking the show’s fans, telling them it had been “an honour to walk in [Castle’s] boots.”

“I’m endlessly grateful to the comic fans and the men and women of the Armed Services and law enforcement community who Frank means so much to,” he wrote on Instagram. “Thank you to the USMC and all the wonderful soldiers who trained me. Go Hard. Be safe.”

Fans have suggested that perhaps Eminem could save The Punisher. “Just buy the show rights off Netflix and produce under slim shady records,” one tweeted at the rapper.

The show’s cancellation was confirmed by Marvel TV’s Jeph Loeb in a statement that seemingly left the door open for a return.

“Our Network partner may have decided they no longer want to continue telling the tales of these great characters… but you know Marvel better than that.

“As Matthew Murdock’s Dad once said, “The measure of a man is not how he gets knocked to the mat, it’s how he gets back up.”

Loeb finished the note with: “To be continued…!”

Oh, come on. Netflix did not cancel it, Disney did. They'll probably put it out on THEIR upcoming streaming service. Loeb is an asshole for putting the blame on Netflix.
