Fans are getting revved up for Season 2 of The Punisher. The second installment of the series is set to bow on Netflix in January, and with that time fast approaching, you may be wondering what Frank will go through in Season 2. Jon Bernthal opened up on that topic during a set visit attended by CinemaBlend's Corey Chichizola. Bernthal said:

What he keeps finding is, anybody he gets close to there's some sort of military slang term called a "shit magnet," I think Frank finds himself being that. Everybody he comes close to starts to get hurt. He has to deal with the fact that it's when he's not on-mission, when he's not literally going after the worst of the worst, that's when innocent people start to die. He has to grapple with that. This season he's very much trying to figure out who he is. I don't think he's ever been a guy too concerned with finding peace of mind or finding harmony or finding love. He's sadly kind of at home in the blackness and in the darkness.

Based on what Jon Bernthal is saying, Frank will find there are deadly consequences when he takes a break from going after bad people. Will The Punisher Season 2 involve a high death count? Stay tuned.

As the adage goes "evil never takes a vacation," therefore making it next to impossible for heroes to be able to go on one. Accordingly, Frank will always have a mission that he, or someone else, discovers needs him. Given that there is another season of the Netflix series, Frank clearly finds one in Season 2, and it is going to be interesting.

What will Frank's overarching journey be on The Punisher in Season 2? Jon Bernthal shared insight on that, saying:

For a lot of folks, I think when you suffer trauma, to be on-mission, to have a direction, to have an enemy that you know of and to be in it with likeminded people, it provides some sort of quiet from the storm. The monsters start to come in the quiet and when you have nothing to fight for. No direction. Peace sometimes can be the most scary place for a lot of folks. When you change people's circumstances, there's nothing that will take place of this world that you've come to know. That's a lot of what this season is about for Frank, is he keeps getting drawn into this fight and he's still grappling with the idea of, "who is the real Frank Castle?" And is there any peace?

As long as The Punisher has seasons, it is unlikely there will be any peace for Frank Castle. Fans got a glimpse of him in the midst of peacetime during the beginning of The Punisher's first season and towards the end of it.

The beginning of The Punisher's first season set up Frank's impetus to continue kicking tail. Whereas the season finale set the stage for Frank to enjoy the fruits of his struggle, because his main goal was accomplished. At that same time, The Punisher set up the future threat of Ben Barnes' Billy Russo becoming Jigsaw.

One interesting question is whether Frank will come to regret leaving Billy alive, thus leaving him a threat who will likely wreak havoc in the future. What, if any price, Frank could pay for that going forward will be for Season 2 to reveal.

By virtue of being who he is, people will always need Frank's help, and he is not a guy who can stand by and do nothing. Along with strangers he comes across, there are already a few people Frank actually has a personal connection with who will continue needing his help. One of those people is intrepid reporter Karen Page.

Given her line of work, she is bound to continue needing his assistance in the future. The way Daredevil's third season left Karen's story, there is more than enough opportunity for it.

Plot details are scarce, but initial information hinted at the adaptation of one comic book storyline, only to see a shakeup that suggests a different one is really in the works. Fans will not have to wait much longer to see what unfolds, though.
