Netflix Introduces Choose Your Own Adventure-Style Movies

Netflix is introducing interactive movies that allow viewers to dictate how the narrative unfolds.

The first of these "narrative episodes" is called Puss in Book: Trapped in an Epic Tale. This interactive video, which serves as a standalone episode separate from The Adventures of Puss in Boots TV series, is available on the streaming service right now.

The second experience, titled Buddy Thunderstruck: The Maybe Pile, will be released on Netflix on July 14, which will be followed by Stretch Armstrong: The Breakout sometime in 2018. Like Trapped in an Epic Tale, The Maybe Pile will be an entirely new episode that exists independent from the Buddy Thunderstruck children's TV series.

According to Netflix's announcement, these interactive stories will be supported for "most TV experiences as well as iOS devices." There's no word on what other properties may get similar treatment, though the company said it found children's programming to be a logical place to start.
