Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage has expressed interest in joining the Star Wars franchise. The galaxy far, far away has continued to expand in a major way ever since Lucasfilm was purchased by Disney in 2012. With both Episode IX and Rian Johnson’s new trilogy in active development, along with a litany of confirmed and rumored solo projects on the way, the Star Wars universe is bigger than ever. Given the series’ immense popularity and tremendous critical and financial success, it’s no shocker that there’s a laundry list of stars that are looking to hop on board the franchise. Several notable actors have expressed interest in signing on for a Star Wars movie, including The Walking Dead ‘s Andrew Lincoln and the Winter Soldier himself, Sebastian Stan . Other big name stars may not necessarily be interested in headlining a Star Wars film, but are big enough fans to accept smaller cameo roles . Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Daniel Craig are among those that fall into the latter category.

Alongside director Reed Morano and co-star Elle Fanning, Dinklage recently sat down with Kevin Smith for IMDB to discuss their new post-apocalyptic film, I Think We’re Alone Now. Smith (who himself made a cameo in The Force Awakens) eventually asked about Morano’s recent meeting with Lucasfilm and whether or not she was in line to helm a Star Wars movie. After the director denied the rumors, dismissing her sitdown as “just a meeting”, Dinklage chimed in with “I just want a part!” Of course, his comment was probably made in jest, after having interrupted Morano earlier in the interview by making droid beeps, jokingly saying “Oh gosh, I’m auditioning.”

Dinklage’s star power is about as high as it’s ever been, thanks to his fantastic work as Tyrion Lannister in the smash hit HBO series, Game of Thrones . But with GoT currently filming its eighth and final season, which is set to air in 2019, perhaps Dinklage is looking to line up the next stage of his career. The 48-year-old New Jersey native is no stranger to Hollywood blockbusters, either, having previously starred in big budget films like X-Men: Days of Future Past and Pixels. Now that he’s at a point in his career where he can pick and choose his projects, if he really is interested in joining the Star Wars universe, chances are good that he’ll eventually be able to make it happen.
