The new trailer for the Paper Girls television series shows the titular time-traveling pre-teens as they attempt to save the world. Based on the popular Brian K. Vaughan's graphic novel series of the same name, the live-action adaptation centers on a group of four 12-year-old newspaper delivery girls thrust into a war between two factions of time-travelers on Halloween night in 1988 in Cleveland, Ohio. The source material proved popular with critics and audiences alike, with Paper Girls winning multiple Eisner Awards over its four-year run.

Officially announced in July 2019, the new science-fiction adventure series will be executive produced by original Paper Girls creators Vaughan and illustrator Cliff Chiang along with Halt and Catch Fire creator Christopher Cantwell. Riley Lai Nelet (Erin Tieng), Sofia Rosinsky (Mac Coyle), Camryn Jones (Tiffany Quilkin), and Fina Strazza (KJ Brandman) were cast as the four newspaper delivery girls. Stand-up comedian and actor Ali Wong rounded out the cast as Erin Tieng's future self.

Now, Amazon Prime Video has released a full-length trailer for Paper Girls, which features the titular characters as they travel to the future to save the world. The new video showcases the pre-teens as they encounter their future selves and humorously deal with modern technology while avoiding a group of time-traveling soldiers in riveting action scenes. Check out the new Paper Girls trailer below.

The new trailer showcases the core character dynamic of the paper girl group as they are thrust into a time war between the inventors of time travel, the Old Timers who wish to maintain the integrity of the timeline, and their future descendants who want to change it. The video also gives audiences their first look at the live-action version of the Old Timers' white-armored soldiers as they track down the paper girls. However, the trailer also features moments from the show's narrative arc as the titular characters come face-to-face with their future selves and wrestle with who they have become and want to be.

Along with Erin's 2019 version, K.J. and Tiffany are shown coming into contact with their modern-day counterparts. K.J. sees herself kissing another woman, a massive revelation for her as she is only just coming to understand her sexuality as a 12-year-old. Although the entirety of the Paper Girls story has been completed in Vaughan and Chiang's award-winning graphic novel series, both old and new audiences can experience the live-action adaptation on July 29 when Paper Girls premieres on Amazon Prime Video.
