Outlander: Season 2 has found its Roger Wakefield in Scottish actor Richard Rankin, Starz has announced. Mild spoilers follow for those who have not read the books.

Rankin will play the "intelligent kindhearted, and charming" older version of Reverend Wakefield's adopted son who Outlander fans will remember from Season 1.

Roger's parents died in World War II, leaving him in the care of Rev. Wakefield and housekeeper Mrs. Graham. In the show's second season, however, he's all grown up and now a history-obsessed professor at Oxford.

Rankin recently starred in Bradley Cooper's food-centric drama Burnt. He also appeared in BBC's The Syndicate as well as the NBC drama series American Odyssey.

Outlander stars Caitriona Balfe as a World War II combat nurse named Claire who's transported back in time to 1743, where her life intertwines with a Scottish warrior named Jamie (Sam Heughan).
