One Direction joined the cast of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues to sing 'Afternoon Delight' on SNL last night (December 7).

You can watch footage of the moment the popular boyband became "Nine Direction" by scrolling down the page and clicking 'play'. The performance was part of the opening skit on the US comedy show, which was hosted by Will Ferrell and Co.

Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues opens in cinemas on December 20. The sequel follows Will Ferrell's '70s news anchor, Ron Burgundy as he launches a comeback on a 24-hour network in '80s New York.

Alongside Ferrell, Steve Carell, David Koechner, Paul Rudd and Christina Applegate have all reprised their roles from the first Anchorman film, while James Marsden appears as a rival news anchor and Kristen Wiig has also joined the cast as the wife of Carell's character, Brick.

Meanwhile, Burgundy recently pledged his support to controversial politician Rob Ford, when Ferrell appeared in character on Conan O'Brien's US talk show to sing a campaign song for the Toronto mayor.
