As we wade deeper into Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, all eyes are looking toward the future. Because Avengers: Infinity War is just a year or so away, and will unite both The Avengers and The Guardians of the Galaxy in a big screen team up against Josh Brolin's villainous Thanos. The Russo brothers have the challenging job of featuring a ton of different characters in one film, and it's unclear which heroes will get more screenvtime when the third and fourth Avengers films arrive. But it looks like two supporting cast members are going to have their plot explored in Infinity War: Scarlet Witch and Vision.

Paul Bettany (who just joined the cast of the Untitled Han Solo movie) recently appeared at Wizard World Chicago, where he did a panel about his role in the MCU. While keeping his answers brief and the secrets close to the chest, he teased more of his plot with Scarlet Witch to be expanded in Infinity War, saying:

I think, for both Lizzie and I, it's the most exciting plot line of each of us so far

Now this sounds awesome. It seems that two of The Avengers' more tertiary characters will share more screen time in the next Avengers movie, despite battling on opposite sides in their last appearance together.

The relationship between Paul Bettany's Vision and Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch is one of the most unique in the MCU. Vision is an android who is still learning to navigate interpersonal relationships, while Scarlet Witch is a bit of a loner who feels out of place among the more recognizable heroes. In Captain America: Civil War, Vision clearly has a growing interest in Wanda, and shows her kindness while the Sokovia Accords and her role in accidentally killing innocents weighed on the new hero's conscious.

But ultimately they ended up on opposite sides of the titular conflict. And when Hawkeye arrives to procure Wanda, she's forced to use her chaotic powers against the android, and temporarily buries him in the ground while she escapes. The two end up facing off in the epic tarmac battle, before ultimately Wanda and the rest of Team Cap are arrested and put in custody on The Raft.

It should be interesting to see how the two factions of The Avengers manage to reunite. There's presumably a ton of bad blood, with Steve Roger's team living as fugitives after being broken out of their superpowered prison. But when Thanos eventually arrives to destroy Earth and collect the Infinity Stones, the heroes are going to need to bury the hatchet and unite against a common enemy. Considering that one of the Infinity Stones is what is giving Vision his life and powers, he's going to be in serious danger.

Avengers: Infinity War will arrive in theaters on May 4, 2018.
