The official poster for Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood shines a spotlight on stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt. This summer, the fan-favorite auteur returns with his ninth (and possibly penultimate) film, which takes viewers back to California in 1969. DiCaprio and Pitt star as TV actor Rick Dalton and stuntman Cliff Booth, respectively, as they look to regain their prior fame as the industry (and world) changes around them. The infamous Charles Manson murders will be a primary background element, as evidenced by Margot Robbie's casting as Sharon Tate.

With Once Upon a Time in Hollywood set for a July release, Sony is in the preliminary stages of launching their marketing campaign. Last week, it was confirmed the long-awaited first trailer was on the way, though no exact date for its debut has been set. As Tarantino fans await the first bits of footage, they do have a cool one-sheet to check out in the meantime.

Today, DiCaprio unveiled the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood poster, which simply shows the Oscar-winner standing alongside Pitt against a California backdrop (the Hollywood sign is visible in the background). Check it out for yourself in the space below:

Obviously, the poster doesn't reveal or hint at anything with regards to the movie's plot, but it certainly gets the job done in selling general audiences on the project. DiCaprio and Pitt, of course, have been recognizable A-listers for decades and remain viable draws (The Revenant, DiCaprio's last film, grossed $532.9 million worldwide). Unsurprisingly, the first wave of promotion is going to focus on their pairing, which has potential to be highly entertaining and intriguing. Tarantino himself is a household name at this point in his career, and a sizable chunk of cinephiles need little incentive to check out his latest offering. Just knowing the two-time Oscar-winner is behind a new film is more than enough for some; indeed, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood was one of 2019's most anticipated titles before marketing began.

The poster being revealed today indicates the trailer is right around the corner, and it should be online any day now. It's expected it'll premiere online before being attached to screenings of Jordan Peele's Us, which opens in theaters the evening of Thursday, March 21. As for what viewers can expect to see, the Once Upon a Time in Hollywood preview should offer teases of Tarantino's snappy dialogue and showcase the film's eye-catching production design. It would also be great if it shed some light on the previously reported Pulp Fiction vibes and gave fans a greater idea of the plot. Screen Rant will have the trailer covered for you, whenever it arrives.
