‘Now You See Me 2′ Official Title Revealed

The Avengers star Mark Ruffalo has been gently reproached by Marvel in the past for making enthusiastic use of his Instagram account while on set, but it seems that the actor still hasn’t quite learned his lesson. Ruffalo has just started filming Now You See Me 2, Jon M. Chu’s sequel to the 2013 supernatural(?) mystery thriller directed by Louis Leterrier, in which Ruffalo played an FBI agent investigating a series of heists pulled off by the magician group known as the Four Horsemen.

A few details about the sequel’s plot were recently revealed along with a full list of cast members. The Four Horsemen (minus Isla Fisher’s character Henley) return to face a new enemy who recruits them into their most dangerous heist yet. It’s unclear where Ruffalo’s character, Agent Dylan Rhodes, fits into that story, particularly in light of Now You See Me‘s ending.


Simply slapping a number onto the end of the first movie’s title is rather unfashionable at the moment, and in an Instagram set photo Ruffalo has revealed that Now You See Me 2 will actually be called Now You See Me: The Second Act. Ruffalo is covering his face in the photo, but it’s unclear whether that’s because there’s something on his face he wants to hide (maybe Dylan grew a magician’s goatee), or whether Ruffalo simply wanted to create an air of mystery.

Now You See Me: The Second Act also stars Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg and Dave Franco, who are reprising their roles as members of the Four Horsemen, and the new cast members will include Lizzy Caplan (The Interview), Daniel Radcliffe (Horns) and Jay Chou (The Green Hornet). While Chou and Caplan’s roles are unconfirmed, Radcliffe will be playing the son of Michael Caine’s character, Arthur Tressler, and could well be the new antagonist of the film.

Ruffalo probably isn’t going to get in too much trouble for his Instagram post, since it doesn’t give much away beyond the title. Now You See Me: The Second Act at least sorts out all the possible future sequel names if this turns into an ongoing franchise: The Third Act, The Fourth Act, The Intermission and so on.
