A mystery Phase 4 Marvel Cinematic Universe movie is reportedly looking to begin filming next summer overseas. Marvel Studios is currently focused on finishing out Phase 3 of the MCU, but that doesn't mean they aren't also looking to the future. Phase 3 concludes next year after Captain Marvel is released in March and Avengers 4 caps off 10 years of storytelling in May. Spider-Man: Far From Home may be the beginning of Phase 4 - unless it folds into the previous phase as Ant-Man did with Phase 2 - and that is only the start of several upcoming projects. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 looks to be the true launching point towards the next decade of movies, even without James Gunn directing.

The bigger mystery has become what will follow Guardians 3 (assuming it isn't delayed due to Gunn's firing). Marvel has begun lining up their future slate but have yet to officially announce any of their intentions. Trustworthy reports have instead been the source of figuring out what is coming next, and one film is now looking to begin filming next June.

The GWW reports Marvel Studios is eying a June 2019 start to production for an unknown film. The movie will call the UK its home for most of the production. Projects such as Black Widow, Doctor Strange 2, and The Eternals are the three known options for Marvel, but which one will it be?

The frontrunner to take this production slot is Scarlett Johansson's solo Black Widow movie. Marvel's been actively developing it since early this year when Jac Schaeffer was hired to write the script. After Johansson met with Schaeffer to help iron out the story and character, she also met with possible directors. Cate Shortland will direct Black Widow, although that hasn't been confirmed by Marvel. With a writer, director, and star attached, Black Widow should have no problem being ready to film next summer. It'd also put the project on track for a summer 2020 release, which has long been expected.

If this isn't Black Widow, then Marvel Studios could be quickly and quietly gearing up for Doctor Strange 2. Director Scott Derrickson recently teased a September reunion with the Sorcerer Supreme, so he could be diving back into development to get the project ready for a June 2019 start. The first film was filmed in the UK, so it is a logical choice to return. The dark horse candidate for this spot is The Eternals though. Marvel has brought a pair of screenwriters onto the project, but there's been no word on the project since. However, if Guardians 3 sets up Eternals in any way, then Marvel may want their latest unknown cosmic group to be the direct followup. Since Kevin Feige maintains Marvel is going to keep Phase 4 a secret until after Avengers 4, then it may still be a while before these MCU projects are officially announced and dated.
