We’ve seen a good deal of Venom so far, but a new trailer for Sony’s next Spider-Man Universe movie, that played at San Diego Comic-Con and was finally released publicly today, gave us a little more info about washed up journalist Eddie Brock.

Venom marks the beginning of Sony’s Spider-Man universe, which is separate from Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. Tom Holland’s Spider-Man, seen in Spider-Man: Homecoming and Avengers: Infinity War, may not appear in Venom, for example, but that’s still undecided. Reports indicate that Sony’s Spider-Man will focus more on the superhero’s various villains — that Sony has the rights to, of course. Word recently broke on a Morbius movie starring Jared Leto.

Venom stars Tom Hardy as the title character with the giant tongue. Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate and Woody Harrelson all costar. The film will be released on Oct. 5, a couple of months before Sony’s next big superhero movie, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
