New punisher photo and info from daredevil: Season 2
Update added below for the new Elektra photo revealed from Daredevil.
Following teaser footage where he was only glimpsed from the back, the first clear look at the Punisher in Daredevil: Season 2 has surfaced, showing the character having clearly gotten the better of the horned hero.

The image of Frank Castle/the Punisher comes courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. In the site's interview with Season 2 showrunners Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez we also learn just a bit about where the Netflix series is going in 2016.
The pair in charge explain that Season 2 will feature more moral complications, with Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock bouncing off of The Walking Dead's Jon Bernthal as the more lethal vigilante.
It's notable that photo of the two characters is reminiscent of a scene from the Punisher comics (click here to see), as written by Garth Ennis and drawn by Steve Dillon, though it remains to be seen if it will play out the same way here.
Petrie says that he knows the political climate the show will be stepping into, especially regarding a vigilante who unapologetically murders people with guns, noting, "We’re stirring the pot and we’re aware of the headlines where we live and we’re trying to get people to think." Ramirez meanwhile reveals that the Daredevil writers were inspired by Taxi Driver's antihero Travis Bickle when creating their version of the Punisher.
Bernthal added a slightly less complicated view of his character, saying, "The best thing about him is that if he offends you, he just doesn’t care."

Regarding Elektra, who's been both Daredevil's lover and antagonist in the comics, Doug Petrie tells EW, “Matt’s a deeply moral complicated guy and she’s just the best bad girlfriend you can possibly have. She does everything wrong and attractive, she’s his id, the wild side. Matt is always taming his wild side. Elektra just lets it out. He’s both repulsed and deeply drawn to that.”
Élodie Yung (G.I. Joe: Retaliation) plays Elektra, who was also glimpsed in the Daredevil: Season 2 NYCC trailer, albeit from behind a veil (in Elektra's trademark red).
