Thus far, the marketing material for Darren Aronofsky's latest, mother! have leaned towards the weird and unsettling. And that feeling continues with the latest poster, which shows some serious cracks opening up between Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem.Aronofsky's first film in three years sees him back in the psychological thriller territory that won Black Swan such plaudits. Lawrence and Bardem play a couple who move into a new house, only for some uninvited guests (Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer) to disrupt their tranquility. If the trailer is anything to go by, what happens next is a web of dark, mysterious and occasionally sexy horror, as their peaceful existence evaporates.
With a brace of Gleesons (Domhnall and Brian in this case), Kristen Wiig and Stephen McHattie all appearing, the film is so far shrouded in much unnerving mystery, which is a good thing. mother! arrives in UK cinemas on 15 September.
