A new still from the upcoming biopic First Man shows Ryan Gosling on his way to space. First Man will be the fourth feature film by director Damien Chazelle, and the second time Gosling has worked with him on a movie.

First Man is based on the true story of the Apollo 11 space mission that landed Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin on the moon on July 20, 1969. Ryan Gosling was said to be playing Armstrong at the same time the biopic was announced back at the end of 2016. Corey Stoll will also have a big role in the film, as he's playing Aldrin. Along with these two main actors, the cast will also include people like Jason Clarke, Claire Foy, Kyle Chandler, Jon Bernthal and Pablo Schreiber.

The filmmakers behind First Man really appear to be making the film seem as authentic as possible, as seen in this new photo from EW. In the still, released by Universal Studios, fans can see Gosling dressed in a full spacesuit, with Armstrong's name patch attached to the front. The character is likely soaring through space at this point, since Gosling appears to be in the cockpit and is covered in a bright blue light.

Armstrong may have passed away in 2012, but the filmmakers have reportedly met with Armstrong's family members in order to get each detail of the film just right. Along with Armstrong's family, Chazelle also based the movie on the official biography First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong. With these two sources at the filmmaker's disposal, Chazelle has a good chance of making one of the more accurate films that have ever been made about Armstrong and the moon landing.

Gosling previously worked with Chazelle on the six-time Oscar-winning film La La Land. Chazelle's reputation as a great director seems to grow every year. especially since his Academy Award for Best Achievement in Directing was given to him at the young age of 32. He now holds the record for being the youngest director ever to win the award. With Chazelle having two Oscar-winning films already to his credit - Whiplash and La La Land - First Man is not only a highly anticipated film, but also one that could easily be a contender for many awards when Oscar season rolls around.
