Doctor Strange is promising to be one of the more visually impressive films we've experienced in some time. A new clip shows off some of what we can expect to see when the film arrives next week. The clip focuses on a magical battle between Benedict Cumberbatch's Strange and Mads Mikkelsen's Kaecilius, along with a couple of his minions. It appears to be an early sequence, which gives us a great promise of what's to come.

Based on the title of the video, provided by Comicbook.com, this attack is taking place inside the Sanctum Santorum. Doctor Strange is looking more than a little outmatched in a three-on-one assault. He's mostly able to hold his own at first using magical energy like a small whip to fight off his attackers. However, knowing he's outnumbered Strange tries to escape, and this is where things go bad. Kaecilius is able to keep Strange from getting away by using his power to actually change the length of the hallway he's running through, which has the effect of keeping the Doctor in one place.

It's at this point that we get an indication that this scene probably takes place fairly early in the film. When Doctor Strange attempts to create magical shields in order to defend himself against the inevitable attack, one of them fails. The exact reason for this is unclear, but as it doesn't appear to be any sort of external attack, it feels like Strange has either been weakened from the fight or perhaps he's simply not very good at creating the shields quite yet. He likely is still learning how to control the mystic arts. Hopefully, the Ancient One shows up later in the scene to save his ass.

The newest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be dealing with aspects of that universe that we haven't really seen previously. We've seen a great deal of the bending of reality in the trailers that have been released, and it certainly makes the movie feel like something very different than the previous films within the franchise. We can only7 imagine how good something like that stretching room might look in 3D. Marvel's films haven't always been the absolute best when it came to 3D presentation, but we've been promised that Doctor Strange is being put together with its 3D screening in mind, so this may be the film that bucks the trend.

How do you think Doctor Strange will stack up against the rest of the MCU? Our own Eric Eisenberg has already seen it, you can check out his review here. For the rest of us, we'll have to wait a couple more weeks until the film hits theaters November 4.
