After a serious behind-the-scenes upheaval, Ron Howard is working on getting the STILL untitled Han Solo movie back on track. The film's original directors were fired and Ron Howard was brought on board by Lucasfilm to see the film through the rest of filming. It's an unenviable job to be sure, but Howard had unconditional praise for one particular co-star: Donald Glover. The Lando actor recently wrapped filming and Howard shared a photo of the two of them together, while writing how impressed he was by Glover during their time together.

Ron Howard shared a picture to Twitter of himself and actor Donald Glover in honor of Glover's final day on set. Howard wrote that Glover was "wildly impressive" and that he'll be missed greatly. Glover played a young Lando Calrissian in the film and was still rocking his Lando facial hair in the above tweet. The production of Han Solo has been rocky, to say the least, but it really comes as no surprise that Glover brought his A-game with him to the spinoff.
Donald Glover's star has been on the rise for some time now. He came into the mainstream in the fan-favorite comedy series Community, where he played one-half of the lovable Troy and Abed duo. The shows creator even admits that Glover leaving the show in Season 5 was pretty much the beginning of the end for Community. He's also a skilled rapper, performing under the name Childish Gambino. Glover has been busy on his own show, Atlanta, which rose to critical acclaim and earned a ton of awards during its first season. In addition to developing Season 2, he's also working on an animated Deadpool show for FXX. So, yeah, the dude is going to make one impressive Lando.
Hopefully, Donald Glover will be the shining light of a project that has seen some dark times. The Han Solo movie was originally directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Everything seemed to be off to a fine start, but the movie encountered a sudden roadblock in the form of Disney and Lucasfilm firing the two of them with only a few weeks left to go in filming. The reason for this has varied some, but it generally boils down to Lucasfilm being dissatisfied with what Lord and Miller were delivering. Thus, Ron Howard was brought on to right the ship.
The Han Solo movie is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on May 25, 2018.
