Peter Outerbridge has been announced as the latest casting for the new Netflix show V-Wars. His casting is the latest in a string of developments following the show's announcement, including the casting of The Vampire Diaries alum Ian Somerhalder in April. With Outerbridge's casting, anticipation grows for this latest addition to Netflix's roster of original programs.

Peter Outerbridge is known for his roles as General Davies on CBS's Zoo and Ari Tasarov on CW's Nikita. He has also made several multi-episode guest appearances in a variety of shows, including the recently canceled Designated Survivor, Taken, The Expanse and Orphan Black. Not limited to television appearances, Outerbridge has also starred in Saw VI and Lucky Number Slevin. Acting since the early 1990s in a variety of roles, Outerbridge brings an extensive resume to the table.

As reported by Deadline, Peter Outerbridge has been cast to play Calix Niklos, a clever, but malevolent science expert on the Homeland Security team.

Outerbridge joins Ian Somerhalder, who is no stranger to the world of vampires. Following an 8-season stint on CW's The Vampire Diaries as Damon Salvatore, Somerhalder has been cast in the role of Dr. Luke Swann. When his best friend falls victim to the virus transforming people into vampires, Swann fights to find a cure before it is too late. Adrian Holmes from The CW's Arrow was also previously cast as Michael Fayne, a human turned vampire leader, as was Jacky Lai from Beyond, who plays Kaylee Vo, a struggling online journalist.

Published in 2012, V-Wars' source material by Jonathan Maberry is a collection of prose stories chronicling the first Vampire War. With a mysterious disease ravaging humanity, the book is a race again time and extinction. Friends are pitted against one another as the viral divide between friends and family grows. While V-Wars' adaptation had a rocky start after being purchased back in 2014 by Entertainment One - before Netflix ultimately acquired it - each of these announcements prove that V-Wars is finally on the right track. In addition to the cast falling into place, Stargate and 24 director Brad Turner has also been tapped to helm the pilot episode. While Netflix has yet to announce an official release date, all the pieces are beginning to line up for another potentially successful show from the streaming giant.
