The first full length trailer for Netflix’s Lost in Space is here, and the iconic sci-fi show looks lush and mysterious.

The Netflix Original is a remake of Irwin Allen’s classic 1968 TV show, which ran for three seasons and 83 episodes.

The basic premise of the original was “the Swiss Family Robinson – in space!” and was an extremely successful, if campy, story of a family trying to survive on a strange new planet.

The trailer for the reboot shows us that we have an essentially identical premise, but with an updated tone and aesthetic to make it more suitable for today’s audience.

However, clearly there’s a lot of love for the original Lost In Space, with the new mysterious robot even uttering the famous catchphrase of “Danger, Will Robinson.”

Set 30 years in the future, the reboot follows the story of the Robinson family, who have been chosen to make a new life for themselves in a better world.

But when the new colonists suffer an accident and find themselves abruptly torn off course en route to their new home they must forge new alliances and work together to survive in a dangerous alien environment.

It will be all the danger and frustration of going on a road trip with your family, except dad can’t turn the spaceship right around if you don’t stop fighting, because the spaceship has crash landed into a glacier or something.

The trailer gives us a good look at the beautiful and exotic new planet, as well as plenty of focus on the mysterious robot, which seems to have extraterrestrial origins in this version.

Plus, we get to see Parker Poesy as the potentially villainous Dr Smith, which is amazing casting.

Lost in Space hits Netflix on April 13.
