The Western anthology will feature six tales about the American frontier.


The Coen brothers are headed to Netflix.
The streaming giant has picked up the pair's Western anthology series The Ballad of Buster Scruggs. Produced by Annapurna Television, the project will be written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen and will debut in 2018.
Scruggs will feature six tales about the American frontier. Each chapter will tell a distinct story about the American West. The project will star Tim Blake Nelson as Buster.
Annapurna's Megan Ellison and Sue Naegle will serve as executive producers alongside longtime Coen brothers collaborator Robert Graf and the Coens themselves. Scruggs is slated to premiere in 2018.
“We are streaming, motherfuckers!” said the Coen brothers. Added Netflix's vp original content Cindy Holland: “The Coens are visionary directors, masterful storytellers and colorful linguists. We are thrilled for Netflix to become home to the full range of their talents.”
News of the Coen brothers' TV project broke in January, but all that was known at the time was that the filmmaking duo would be collaborating with Annapurna on the series and that it would be a Western anthology.
