While there was some fresh casting news about Neil Gaiman's adaptation of Good Omens, the book he wrote with the late, great Terry Pratchett, the cameras have clearly already started rolling on the TV series. Gaiman has taken to twitter to post the first picture of David Tennant and Michael Sheen in character.

Combining the best of both Pratchett and Gaiman's writing styles, Good Omens as a book is by turns dark, philosophical and barkingly funny. Angel Aziraphale (Sheen) and demon Crowley (Sheen) have grown rather fond of Earth and are thusly annoyed to discover that the Antichrist is going to show up and bring it to an end. Yes, it's a spin on The Omen, and apocalyptic tales, but it's so rich and layered that we're intrigued to see how Gaiman – who is running the show for the six-episode series, which Douglas Mackinnon will direct.

The cast also includes Michael McKean, Miranda Richardson, Jack Whitehall, Adria Arjona, Ned Dennehy, Ariyon Bakare, Jasmine Hyde and Nina Sosanya. The show is scheduled to hit Amazon worldwide in 2019, followed by BBC Two at a later date.
