NBC Takes ‘Devil’s Advocate’ to a TV-Series!

Remember the 1997 Keanu Reeves where he played a lawyer working for Al Pacino who was literally the Devil? Well, guess what? It’s being turned into a television series by NBC. Add that to the list of things I never saw coming.

Deadline has learned that NBC is pursuing a pilot from Warner Bros. TV for a potential series based on “Devil’s Advocate.” Matt Venne (“Bag of Bones”) is writing the series which follows a public defendant who goes to work for a large law firm that is run by the Devil.

As a television series this is a unique concept because it allows you to have that episodic courtroom drama formula, but then you can occasionally spice things up with some supernatural Devil work. I think there’s potential there. I don’t see it being a long running series, but it could pull together an intriguing story over a couple of seasons.

Production is in the early stages right now, so it’ll be some time before we hear about any sort of casting.
