A new trailer for Tom Hardy's Venom movie is set to appear tomorrow. A solo Venom movie has been on the cards for over a decade, but the project always seemed to hit a roadblock. A spinoff was first proposed following Sam Raimi's Spider-Man 3 and a script was written by Deadpool scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, but due to a negative fan reaction to how the character was portrayed in the movie and Raimi later walking away from Spider-Man 4, it didn't move forward.

Then the character of Eddie Brock was set to appear in The Amazing Spider-Man 3, with Channing Tatum being linked to the role. Apparently, the movie would have set up Venom's appearance in a future solo movie, but once the decision was made to reboot the franchise again, the idea was scrapped. The character will finally get his due in Tom Hardy's solo Venom movie, which appears to have no concrete ties to the MCU.

Venom will set itself apart from a lot of superhero project by being R-rated and horror-focused. Now it seems a new trailer for the movie is on the way, according to a post from Sony China (via Gavin Feng). The same post also suggests fans will get a look at Venom's body.

The first Venom trailer was met with a very mixed reception for refusing to show the character himself, and for looking like a generic action movie starring Tom Hardy. The second preview was much better received by revealing a close-up look at the character, and it sounds like the next trailer will give audiences their best look at the character himself. There was a rumor early in production that Venom himself would barely appear in the final movie, but if that was truly the case, the studio seems to have pushed for the character to become center stage.

Venom isn't the only horror flavored superhero movie on the horizon. Blumhouse is producing Todd McFarlane's long in-development Spawn movie starring Jamie Foxx and Jeremy Renner, and X-Men spinoff New Mutants is really pushing the horror elements of the concept. These genre hybrids make a certain amount of sense, since horror is a hot genre right now, and there's an element of audience fatigue will the standard 'save the world' model of superhero movies.
