Warner Bros has hired William Eubank (The Signal) to direct their forthcoming period drama World Breaker.

Eubank also wrote the script for World Breaker with Phil Gawthorne, and the project is said to follow a medieval Scottish warlord as he and his sons defend their castle. It is apparently described as part Braveheart and part 300.

Considering Eubank has made a name for himself in the low budget sci-fi realm, World Breaker will be a stark departure for the up-and-coming director. It’s for that reason that we’ll be keeping an eye on this one.

Reeves will play a neuroscientist working to bring his family back from the dead while contending with an advanced laboratory and a secret police force. Hysteria director Tanya Wexler will helm the picture.

Evil Dead (2013) helmsman Fede Alvarez is set to direct A Man in the Dark for Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures production company.

Fede Alvarez Direct A Man in the Dark Movie News Wrap Up: Hail, Caesar!, The Finest Hours & More

The film follows two youths who have become obsessed with home robberies and plan their last big score against a blind millionaire. However, once inside the man’s house the duo realize they bit off more than they can chew and the man turns the tables on them.

Alvarez wrote the script for A Man in the Dark along with his Evil Dead co-writer Rodo Sayagues. A Man in the Dark may have a Saw vibe to its premise (plus a bit of a You’re Next twist), but with Alvarez on-board and Raimi producing it’s sure to give horror fans something to look forward to.

Disney has found a screenwriter for its upcoming adaptation of Ray Bradbury’s Something Wicked This Way Comes.

Something Wicked This Way Comes Writer Movie News Wrap Up: Hail, Caesar!, The Finest Hours & More

Although some had thought that director Seth Grahme-Smith might write the picture, that task actually falls to David Leslie Johnson (Orphan). Perhaps Grahme-Smith feels his plate is plenty full with the film, which will mark his directorial debut; not to mention, he’s also writing the upcoming LEGO Batman movie.

Something Wicked This Way Comes has an intriguing premise involving a mysterious carnival leader and his ability to grant wishes. Of course, in typical Bradbury fashion, those wishes always come at a price.
