Spike has now greenlit the TV adaptation of Stephen King's The Mist.

The series order is set for 10 one-hour episodes, which will begin production this summer in preparation for a 2017 premiere. The series will follow the events in a small town after a mist seeps in and creates chaos.

Spike had ordered a production pilot in February after Dimension announced plans for the show last year. Spike has now gone straight to a series order based on the pitch and the pilot script.

The Mist has been adapted for the screen before, as a feature-length film in 2007. More of King's novels are turning to the small screen for the serialized treatment recently, including Under the Dome on CBS and 11.22.63 on Hulu.
