In 2015, Santa’s mission, should he choose to accept it, will be to get tickets to the premiere of the next Mission: Impossible movie. The fifth installment in the series opens December 25, 2015, in competition with Ben Affleck’s Live By Night, opening the same day. So your choices will be Tom Cruise doing another Mission: Impossible or Ben Affleck doing another Boston-related crime drama. Or you could stay home and drink eggnog.


Cruise will reprise his starring role as master spy Ethan Hunt, as well as return to produce along with J.J Abrams and David Ellison. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII opens the week before M:I 5. The script for the latest impossible mission was written by Drew Pearce who also wrote Iron Man 3 and is set to write Sherlock Holmes 3.

It’s unknown which, if any, previously featured IMF agents may return in M:I 5. Jeremy Renner? Simon Pegg? Ving Rhames? Only time will tell.
