Jason Statham is in hot water in the first full-length trailer for The Meg. The cast is made up of a slew of action movie actors including Bingbing Li (Transformers: Age of Extinction), Cliff Curtis (Fear the Walking Dead), Masi Oka (Heroes), Robert Taylor (The Matrix) and Ruby Rose (xXx: Return of Xander Cage). Even beloved comedian Rainn Wilson (The Office) has action credentials, having previously appeared in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. The film was directed by National Treasure‘s Jon Turteltaub and written by prolific Hollywood scribe James Vanderbilt (Zodiac, The Amazing Spider-Man).

Based on the book, Meg: A Novel of Deep Terror by Steve Alten, the film follows Statham as he attempts to rescue a downed submarine crew in dangerous waters. Statham’s character, Jonas Taylor, is a deep sea diver called in to rescue the stranded crew after their submersible is attacked by a creature long thought extinct: the Megalodon. Unbeknownst to everyone else, this isn’t the first time Taylor has come face-to-face with this 75-foot monstrosity.

The first full-length trailer for The Meg has been released and it’s quite a wild ride, indeed. Check out the full trailer above. Additionally, Warner Bros. unveiled the full poster for The Meg, which you can check out below:

The trailer begins with a young girl playing in a fancy, futuristic looking submersible. She comes face to face with the giant megalodon and informs the crew that a monster is just outside their ship. And rightfully so, the meg’s fearsome jaws left toothmarks in the glass window. As everyone tries to come to grips with the terrifying creature attacking their craft, Statham’s Taylor has everything under control. He’s seen this thing before. The trailer blends comedy with action and tense thriller moments as Wilson’s character cracks jokes at Taylor’s expense and Statham does what he does best in the fast-paced action scenes that pit man against beast.

Fans have had an extra long wait for this trailer, the studio delayed its release from March to April. Alten addressed the delay earlier this month, citing execs’ fears over viewers seeing the trailer too early, leading to false impressions of the film’s premiere date, as the reason behind the delay. Alten also promised that both completed trailers for The Meg would be “excellent.” A first look image was released in December 2017, featuring a worried looking Statham in front of a large window with a menacing shark just on the other side of the glass.
