In the interest of full disclosure, Masters of the Universe ’87 is one of my all-time favorite films.
Remember the post-credits teaser in the live-action Masters of the Universe movie? Frank Langella’s Skeletor pops up from the water at the bottom of a pit, noting that he’ll soon be back for another battle with He-Man. Of course, that planned sequel never actually happened. And He-Man, Skeletor and the gang have to date never again appeared up on the big screen.
But that will change come 2019!
We’ve just learned tonight that Sony has dated the live-action Masters of the Universe reboot for December 18th, 2019. Previously attached director McG is no longer on board the project, and the studio is currently in the process of finding a new director to bring He-Man back to life. Meanwhile, David S. Goyer (Blade, Batman Begins) is penning the script.
So who’s playing He-Man? How about Skeletor? We’ll let you know as soon as we find out!
