Marvel’s Inhumans Ratings Hit Series Low

Marvel’s Inhumans‘ ratings hits a series low with its fifth episode, ‘Something Inhuman This Way Comes’. The series has been plagued with problems from the start – originally intended as a big screen project for the shared Marvel Cinematic Universe, Inhumans was demoted to the small screen instead. An uneventful limited-time IMAX opening meant that the show’s biggest flaws were emphasized (primarily, the low-budget CGI), and the first two episodes were critically panned. After such a terrible start, it seems that Marvel’s Inhumans is having serious trouble finding its feet.

The 8-episode miniseries is halfway complete, with the fifth episode ‘Something Inhuman This Way Comes’ bringing the Royal Family back together again in Hawaii, and bringing a little conflict to Maximus’s (Iwan Rheon) new rule in Attilan. The latest ratings indicate that Inhumans’ viewership has dropped to a series low – and with only three episodes left, they don’t have much time to recover.

The show’s most recent episode scraped only a 0.4 adults 18-49 rating, with a total viewership of 2 million, reports Deadline. This is a drop of -0.2, the biggest demo drop on Friday (tied with Once Upon A Time, which also dropped -0.2).

Marvel’s Inhumans on ABC is struggling in a particularly difficult time slot. While there are certainly plenty of Friday night viewers there is also stiff competition and viewership tends to be lower on a weekend evening (compared to the weekdays). The show also continues to be hammered with negative reviews, with many fans simply giving up on it.

Overall, this is pretty bad news for the series – and with so few episodes left, it’s unlikely that Inhumans will receive much of a ratings bump over the next three weeks. Should the ratings continue to fall, it seems very likely that Medusa (Serinda Swan) and her family will not be back for a second season. However, bad ratings are no guarantee of cancellation when it comes to Marvel TV. Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., another Inhuman-character-focused series, has also struggled with less-than-stellar ratings and reviews since the beginning, but it is about to launch its fifth season after being saved by Disney. Of course, the response to Agents of SHIELD was not quite as terrible as that of Inhumans when it started but it does prove that is a series fits into Marvel’s bigger picture, it may well be saved.

Marvel’s Inhumans continues Fri, Oct 27th with ‘The Gentleman’s Name Is Gorgon’ at 9pm on ABC.

Too bad, it's an 8nteresting show to say the least, but I guess due to the special effects and all the CGI costs are sky rocketing . Add the low viewing and they show seems close to done.
