The first teaser poster for Marvel’s Inhumans arrives. The Marvel Cinematic Universe first kicked off in 2008 with Iron Man and has since grown to include a total of 14 movies – but Marvel Studios has also been expanding their shared superhero world on television as well. Though Marvel TV kicked off their efforts with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC in 2013, Netflix has since launched their own corner of the MCU with its NYC-based superhero series. Additionally, a number of Marvel TV shows are in the works, including Cloak and Dagger and New Warriors at Freeform, The Runaways at Hulu, and Inhumans.

Co-produced with IMAX, Marvel’s Inhumans TV series will debut its first two episodes in IMAX theaters this coming Labor Day before the show premieres on ABC in late September. Production on Inhumans began earlier this year, with Marvel locking down the cast of the series before heading to Hawaii to film. According to the Inhumans series synopsis, the show will follow the Royal Family of Inhumans after they flee to Hawaii in the wake of a military coup. Now, although the premiere of ABC’s next upcoming Marvel series is still months away, the first teaser poster arrives.

Marvel unveiled the Inhumans teaser poster on Twitter, which features the tagline: “Beyond humanity.” Along with the official Inhumans logo, the poster includes the symbol that Black Bolt wears in the comics. Take a look:

Of course as fans of the MCU know, Inhumans were first introduced on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. during season 2 – which included the transformation of leading character Skye (Chloe Bennet) into the Marvel Comics superhero Daisy Johnson through Terrigenesis and the discovery of her birth name. Inhumans have since become integral to the modern day politics of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., though season 3 teased the origins of Inhumans with the introduction of the ancient being known as Hive. However, the Inhumans TV series will follow a much different era in the history of the superpowered race.

The cast of Inhumans includes all the major members of the Royal Family, including their leader Black Bolt (Anson Mount), Medusa (Serinda Swan), Maximus (Iwan Rheon), Karnak (Ken Leung), Gorgon (Eme Ikwuakor), Crystal (Isabelle Cornish), Triton (Mike Moh), and Auran (Sonya Balmores). Inhumans will also include Lockjaw, Crystal’s massive teleporting canine companion. Marvel set Iron Fist producer Scott Buck as the Inhumans showrunner, while they additionally enlisted Black Sails helmer Roel Reinť to direct the first two episodes of the eight-episode season.

Although this Inhumans poster doesn’t offer anything new with its simplistic design – such as a first official look at the cast in costume – it does effectively tease the leader of the Royal Family by including Black Bolt’s symbol in the sleek one-sheet. Of course, we’ve gotten sneak peeks at certain members of the Inhuman Royal Family through set photos out of Hawaii, but fans will no doubt be looking forward to seeing official images of the characters. With four months left until the show’s IMAX premiere, however, it may be some time before anything official is rolled out – or, Marvel could be teasing something more official with the debut of this poster.
