Marvel Entertainment has announced plans for a new five-issue Star Wars comic book series centering around Darth Vader just weeks after canceling a previously announced version of the same concept and format, following the firing of the writer for his social media use.

Star Wars: Vader — Dark Visions, written by Dennis Hopeless with art by a rotating series of collaborators and covers by Greg Smallwood, will replace Star Wars: Shadow of Vader, written by Chuck Wendig with art by a rotating series of collaborators. According to Marvel, the new series will offer “a side of Vader you’ve never seen before — and a side that the galaxy has never seen before,” taking readers to places “where even the mysterious anti-hero known as Darth Vader can be someone’s greatest fear, and even…someone’s greatest hope!”

Shadow of Vader was canceled by Marvel last month after the October firing of Wendig, apparently due to his tone on social media. (Marvel has declined to officially comment on the reasons for his dismissal, but sources including Wendig put social media as the primary factor.) The series was originally intended to launch in January.

Vader — Dark Visions will launch in March with two issues.
