'X-Men: The Seminal Moments' will focus on four important issues.

As the X-Men prepare for a final cinematic adventure in their current state, and a relaunch for the comic book franchise with the July launch of House of X and Powers of X, Marvel has unveiled a four-part documentary series looking at landmark comic books in the long-running superhero series.

X-Men: The Seminal Moments, which will release three episodes this week and the final episode next week, features a retrospective on four different comic book issues that redefined who and what the X-Men were for generations of fans: 1975ís Giant-Size X-Men No. 1, which introduced Storm, Colossus, Nightcrawler and Wolverine to the team; 1991ís X-Men No. 1, which reunited past and present members of the team before splitting them into two different teams for the next decade; 1995ís Age of Apocalypse, where an alternate reality overtook the line and offered a new take on the franchise; and 2001ís New X-Men No. 114, which saw Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely abandon the direction of the franchise for the past decade-plus and try to create a new mutant culture out of whole cloth.

Guests on the series include classic writers and artists, including Chris Claremont, Larry Hama and Adam Kubert, as well as Jonathan Hickman, the writer behind House of X and Powers of X. The first episode of the series can be seen below, with future episodes dropping on Marvel.com and Marvelís YouTube channel on May 22, 24 and 28.Dark Phoenix will arrive in theaters June 7. House of X and Powers of X launch in comic book stores in July.
