This year sees quite a few franchises looking to reinvigorate their properties with new installments – Star Wars, Jurassic World, Terminator: Genisys – but only Mad Max: Fury Road will return with the franchise’s original visionary at the helm: George Miller. And if having Miller return to the franchise he began over 30 years ago wasn’t enough to pump you up, then the insanely brutal and bombastic trailers for Mad Max: Fury Road certainly should.

In conjunction with Fury Road‘s May release, DC Comics’ imprint, Vertigo is releasing a massive art book featuring work inspired by the post-apocalyptic world of Mad Max. Titled Mad Max: Fury Road: Inspired Artists, the deluxe hardcover will release on May 6th and feature artwork from over 65 artists; among them Bill Sienkiewicz, Nicola Scott, and Cliff Chiang. The art book will also include commentary from Miller which will no doubt prove enlightening.

But wait, there’s more! In addition to the art book, Vertigo will also release four character centric prequel comics that Miller has co-written, starting with Nux and Immortan Joe #1 on May 20th. This first prequel comic follows the characters played by Nicholas Hoult (Nux) and Hugh Keays-Byrne (Immortan Joe) and will detail events from right before the film begins. After that one-shot there’s another for Charlize Theron’s character called Furiosa #1, followed by a two-part prequel comic for Tom Hardy’s Mad Max.

Mad Max: Fury Road is already one of our most anticipated films of 2015, but these offerings from Vertigo are only making us more excited. Clearly, Miller has more Mad Max on his mind than one film can contain. And if he’s willing to explore that world before the events of Fury Road, then perhaps it’s all the more likely he’ll want to return for a sequel or two.

Mad Max: Fury Road opens in theaters on May 15th.
