The release date and special features details for the home release of Spider-Man: Homecoming have been revealed, as the superhero summer blockbuster will be hitting shelves for mass enjoyment on October 18th.
Anticipated major releases generally get big roll-outs on high-definition formats, as fans want their purchases loaded up with special features and bonus scenes that didn’t make it into the final cut. The Marvel movies are certainly no exception to this rule, as they’ve gone as far as to include vital short films on their releases to expand the universes of their films. Spider-Man: Homecoming will be the latest to get the lavish home-video treatment, packed with hours of extra content for fans of the latest adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
According to Australian website JB Hi-Fi, the web-slinger’s debut into the MCU will be getting a prime release date in October just ahead of the end-of-year holiday shopping season. Along with the dozens of extra features, including what appears to be a nice mixture of behind-the-scenes footage and additional scenes from the film, fans purchasing Homecoming on 4K will have the option to pick up an exclusive replica Spidey mask and a packaged comic book. Below are the full lists of featurettes and deleted/extended scenes:

Featurettes – The Vulture Takes Flight – Spidey Stunts – A Tangled Web – Searching For Spider-Man – Aftermath – Jon Watts: Head of the Class – Food For Thought – Brain Power – Your Changing Body
Deleted & Extended Scenes – A Film by Peter Parker (Director’s Cut) – Cafeteria – Return from ATM – Triskelion Cleanup – Anxious Toomes – Go It Alone – Happy Calls His Mom – Midtown News Final Segment – Mr. Harrington Lessons in Love – Aaron Still Stuck – Gag Reel – Sneak Peek at Marvel’s Spider-Man on Playstation – Spider-Man: Homecoming VR Trailer

Intriguing highlights in the listings of the featurettes include a segment dedicated to director Jon Watts, a look at some of the stunts of the film, and possible looks into the special effects of Adrian Toomes/The Vulture’s flight mechanisms and Peter Parker’s web shooters. “Your Changing Body” most likely is referring to the conception of the Captain America PSA’s sprinkled throughout the film, or it may generally be talking about the high school elements of Homecoming.
As far as scenes are concerned, an extended cut of Peter’s home movie chronicling the events of Captain America: Civil War that opens the film is exciting, as is more of the cheesy and uncomfortable Midtown News school news segments with Betty Brandt. Gag reels are also always fun to watch, in particular with a film with so many comedians in it. No sneak-peek footage for Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, or Avengers: Infinity War will be included on Spider-Man: Homecoming according to the listing, but the release does feature footage from the new PS4 Spider-Man game from Insomniac Games.
