After briefly cameoing in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice last year, Aquaman is finally making his full debut later this year in Justice League, but it's in 2018 when the half human, half Atlantean hero will snag the spotlight for himself. Yesterday Warner Bros officially announced that Aquaman has begun shooting, and along with the production announcement came confirmation of who will comprise the main cast. But these folks are just the tip of the proverbial iceberg when it comes to all the actors who will appear in Aquaman. For instance, it looks like a young actor named Otis Dhanji will play a teenage Arthur Curry in the movie.

IMDB has granted a request to add Otis Dhanji's name to the Aquaman cast list on the website. The document provided to verify that Dhanji is involved in Aquaman lists him as playing Arthur Curry at age 13. Hailing from Australia, which is where Aquaman is currently rolling cameras, this will be Dhanji's first movie role. His most notable credit before now has been appearing in the crime drama stage production Mortido. The document also listed the overall Aquaman shoot lasting until September 29, although Dhanji working six of those days, five of which are in May. You can see what Dhanji looks like below.

So now we know that Aquaman will be flashing back to see what Arthur Curry was like as a young lad, years before he started walking down the superhero path and swinging that golden trident. That's not too surprising considering that the DC Extended Universe has peered back into the pasts of its main Trinity of heroes. Man of Steel showed Clark Kent at ages 9 and 13 using his Kryptonian abilities, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice showed a 9-year-old Bruce Wayne watching his parents being gunned down and one of the Wonder Woman trailers showed a little Diana learning about the gods from her mother. Hippolyta. Perhaps The Flash and Cyborg movies will do the same. As for what we'll see young Arthur doing, that's hard to say, although given that he was raised on land among humanity, presumably he'll be spending some quality time with his dad, Thomas, played by Temuera Morrison.

While Otis Dhanji will be performing Arthur Curry as a teenager, Jason Momoa will be the one who handles the Aquaman duties as an adult, fresh off his adventure with the other Justice Leaguers. Along with Momoa and Temuera Morrison, Aquaman's main cast includes Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Patrick Wilson as Orm/Ocean Master, Nicole Kidman as Queen Atlanna, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta and Dolph Lundgren as Nereus.

Aquaman dives into theaters on December 21, 2018.
