The official release date and list of special features for the Logan Blu-ray have been revealed. Ever since the film premiered back in March and became an audience favorite, fans have been clamoring for the chance to bring Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine swan song home and relive the glory of his final superhero turn from the comfort of their own living room. Anticipation for the home media release grew exponentially when it was announced a black and white edition of the film – titled Logan Noir – would be included.

With Fox joining forces with Alamo Drafthouse to organize special screening events of Logan Noir, it stood reason to believe there would be an announcement regarding the digital and Blu-ray release shortly. Today, those details have made their way online, and consumers are going to have multiple options as they look to add the critically acclaimed film to their collections.

Logan will hit digital HD on May 16, 2017, the same day as the Noir theatrical showings. As has become typical business practice, the physical Blu-ray will hit store shelves a week later on May 23. Per THR, the following special features will be on the disc:

- Logan Noir: a black and white version of the film
- Audio commentary by director James Mangold
- Deleted scenes with optional commentary by Mangold
- Making Logan – behind-the-scenes documentary

It’s customary for retailers to offer their own exclusives in an effort to encourage people to buy the Blu-ray from them, and Logan is no different. Also included in THR‘s report was information about the Wal-Mart version, which comes with a nine-poster collection featuring every X-Men film Jackman appeared in. Best Buy will have their own splashy packaging, as they will be home to the Logan Steelbook (via IGN). Those who get their shopping done at Target will receive a 36-page photo book consisting of black and white stills taken from the set of Logan. It’s frustrating that all of these are not included on one universal release, so fans are going to have to make a tough decision unless they feel like double (or triple) dipping. You can see each retailer exclusive in the gallery above.

Other than the Noir version, the special feature that’s most likely to generate the most attention is the making of documentary, as Logan certainly had the feeling of an event film, given Jackman’s retirement from his career-defining role. Hopefully there will be some fascinating tidbits about the movie’s development and some insight into the process. Deleted scenes always make for an interesting watch, even if it’s apparent why some of them were left on the cutting room floor. One sequence that references Jean Grey has already been revealed, so fans will be curious to see what else Mangold removed before locking in the final picture. Even if this bonus material wasn’t included, owning one of the year’s best films is more than enough to make the purchase worthwhile.

Logan will be available on digital HD May 16, 2017 and Blu-ray May 23, 2017.
