With filming on Doctor Strange well underway, Rachel McAdams has revealed why she decided to join the upcoming film, highlighting its director and leading man Benedict Cumberbatch as two key reasons.

"I mean, I just love the director," McAdams told MTV News at the Gotham Independent Film Awards. "I met with Scott [Derrickson] and loved his vision, he was so passionate. And the opportunity to work with Benedict was kind of a no-brainer. And Marvel makes amazing films, so it was a complete package."

While McAdams refrained from discussing her mysterious role in the movie, she did confirm filming for her part has begun. The actress also touched upon the film's visual style, noting Doctor Strange differs considerably from Marvel's prior movies. "It’s definitely not going to be like any of the other films," she said.

Doctor Strange opens November 4, 2016. In addition McAdams and Cumberbatch as Doctor Stephen Strange, the film also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor as Baron Mordo and Mads Mikkelsen in an unspecified role.
