THE Dancing On Ice arena tour has been axed after organisers worried about “poor ticket sales”.

Christopher Dean confirmed the news and said they’d decided to give the live shows a rest in 2019.

Dancing On Ice starts again on January 6 and has a number of our favourite stars, including Gemma Collins, taking part.

But despite the popular names signed up for the show, insiders claimed to The Star On Sunday bosses feared there wasn’t “a demand for” live shows.

Christopher, who stars on the show as a judge alongside Jayne Torvill, added: “There won’t be a tour next year.

“We feel it’s not the right time. We may have another tour next time, but not this series.”

The Sun Online has contacted Dancing On Ice for comment.

Love Island hunk Wes Nelson has already been tipped to win this series after showing off some seriously impressive moves on the ice.

Wes, 20, and his professional partnerVanessa will battle it out against Gemma, Grease actress Didi Conn and former Strictly Come Dancing pro James Jordan.

Coronation Street actress Jane Danson - who plays the role of Leanne Battersby in the hit ITV soap - will also be vying to be crowned champion in the upcoming series, alongside EastEnders star Richard Blackwood and Westlife's Brian McFadden.

Saara Aalto, Mark Little, Melody Thornton, Ryan Sidebottom and Loose Women's Saira Khan will also compete in the competition.

Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield are returning as hosts.

Dancing On Ice begins on January 6 at 6pm on ITV.
