The Death Wish remake starring Bruce Willis is reportedly going into production this year.

According to Deadline, Big Bad Wolves helmers Aharon Keshales and Navot Papushado are set to direct the film based on the Charles Bronson vigilante movie franchise, with a script written by Dan Gilroy and Graham Yost.

We first learned Willis, 60, was up for the lead role in Paramount and MGM’s remake of Death Wish back in 2013. At that time, Joe Carnahan had a script ready and was expected to direct but he eventually dropped out of the project.

The revamp will reportedly stick closer to the 1972 novel written by Brian Garfield, focusing on an architect who takes matters into his own hands after a violent crime destroys his family and life.

The first Death Wish film, starring a 52-year-old Charles Bronson, was released in 1974 and directed by Michael Winner. The actor reprised his role in four sequels.

In related Bruce Willis news, the Die Hard star said he approved of the idea of a prequel focusing on a young John McClane. Meanwhile, you can catch Bruce Willis playing the part of a villain in the movie Precious Cargo.
