Back in the distant mists of 2011, we first heard about a new take on Romeo And Juliet called Die In A Gunfight that promised to star Zac Efron in one of the lead roles. Things have been awfully quiet since then, but the movie has popped back out of the development mire with a new cast and director. Kaya Scodelario, Josh Hutcherson, Olivia Munn and Helen Hunt will now star in the film.

Animals director Colin Schiffli is the man currently attached to make sure the movie actually happens this time, working from a script by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari. The story follows two typically star-crossed lovers, Ben (Hutcherson) and Mary (Scodelario), who are desperate to break from the confines of their lives and fuel their passion. It turns into an all-out struggle for their love against a backdrop of revenge, corporate espionage, and a long-standing feud between their families. And given the history of the story, we're guessing it doesn't end well...

"We are delighted to assemble a top tier cast and creative team to bring this vibrant and passionate film to life," says producer Mark Gordon. "Showcasing exhilarating action and timeless emotional themes, Die In A Gunfight will surely resonate with audiences around the world." Shooting – of various sorts – kicks off in Boston next month.
