Justice League's Rumored Runtime Seems Really Long

Zack Snyder's Justice League movie has a lot of ground to cover when it opens in theaters in November. Following up on the director's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Snyder has to "Unite The League," as the marketing materials have been trumpeting. And then they have to take on a new foe. So the movie has reason to be long... but does it need to be nearly three hours long?

This is the runtime currently posted on IMDB, which states that Zack Snyder's Justice League is two hours and 50 minutes. Holy Mother Boxes, that's a long movie, Batman! If that ends up being the official run time of Justice League, it would make DC's first superhero ensemble picture 19 minutes longer than Batman v Superman (the theatrical cut), so stretching out the run time seems like a natural progression.

It goes without saying that, despite what's on IMDB, this rumored run time has to be taken with a grain of salt. Zack Snyder still has months left to work on a final cut of Justice League, which doesn't open until November. We just now got a look at the first official trailer for Justice League, and it was a broad collection of unconnected scenes -- with PLENTY of important details left out. Here, give it another view:

We know, for certain, that following the "death" of Superman (Henry Cavill) at the hands of Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg) and Doomsday, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) and Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) will comb the globe - and ride the King Tide - looking for powerful metahumans to protect our planet. They will recruit Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Flash (Ezra Miller) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher) to a team that is expected to fight off Steppenwolf (Ciaran Hinds) and his minions of parademons.

But yeah, the recruitment process of the Justice League members is going to take time. Then Batman has to show them WHO they are fighting. And then they have to take Steppenwolf down -- all while eventually resurrecting Superman and, we think, teasing the eventual coming of Darkseid. That sounds like a long movie. Nearly three hours long? It's totally possible. But I don't think even Zack Snyder has the answer to that one just yet.
